Bay Business Group's Scholarships Program

Name of Scholarship:  Bay Business Group (BBG) Scholarship -- in connection with Southern Maryland College Access Network Scholarship Fund. Description / Purpose:  The Bay Business Group, representing businesses in Northern Calvert and Southern Anne Arundel Counties, presents two scholarships to two graduating seniors from Northern High School, Huntingtown High School and/or Southern High School, who are pursuing a higher education in a business-related major and demonstrate financial need. Finalists must make oral presentations to the BBG membership. Award Amounts and Number:  Two awards at $1,000 each (Non-renewable) Eligibility Requirements / Criteria: GPA Community Service Quality of Essay Financial Need  Presentation to BBG membership Two finalists will be selected from each high school and the BBG membership will decide on the scholarship awardees at their May meeting (3rd Wednesday of the month). Two scholarship awardees will be selected from the three high schools (the two could be from the same school). Application Process:   Applications will be received by the Calvert Local Scholarship Application (LSA) Clearinghouse Committee, will be entered into the Calvert LSA Clearinghouse database (produced for scholarship providers), and will then be distributed to the Scholarship Providers indicated on the application. The BBG Scholarship Committee then reviews the applications, essays, GPAs and financial needs, and selects the two finalists from each high school. Delivery of Funds:  The BBG distributes funds to graduating seniors' college of choice. Questions on the BBG Scholarships Program may be directed to Dr. Tom Keeley.
